What is Verba Vetera?

My name is Wilhelm Jansson and I’m the proprietor of Verba Vetera. I live in a small university town in Sweden, called Uppsala.

I hold a Master’s degree in Archival and Information Science and a Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology. This background has given me a deep appreciation for the physical traces of the past – whether it’s a vellum-bound theological treatise, a handwritten manuscript, or a forgotten academic volume tucked away on a shelf.

But more than formal training, this shop is built on passion. I have a lifelong love of books, especially those connected to history, theology, and academia. I’m drawn to marginalia, ex libris, and the unique quirks that make each book a story unto itself – not only through its content but through its journey.

This space is my way of sharing that passion. I offer carefully selected rare books and manuscripts to collectors, researchers, bibliophiles, and anyone who, like me, feels a spark when holding a piece of intellectual and material history.

Once again thank you for visiting Verba Vetera.

Kind Regards,

Wilhelm Jansson
